HOW TO BECOME TOLERATED AND ACCEPTED WITH PARKOUR AND OUTDOOR EXERCISE
About
Enriching Public Space focuses on educating parkour people to care for the outdoors and their training spaces. The reality of training parkour is that it leaves behind an impact that we may not often realize – from the forgotten trash left behind to the scrapes from our rubber-soled shoes. When we enjoy overcoming obstacles in the public, we act as stewards of parkour and its practices.
Enriching Public Space teaches practitioners how to minimize our impact to build tolerable and accepted parkour practices.
This resource guide offers six main principles that are expanded with additional tips. Our guidelines are meant to inform and shape your parkour training ethics. Let’s advocate for a positive culture that enriches the tolerance and acceptance of parkour.
The six principles
1 - Educate Yourself
Adequate preparation and training begins with the right information to help parkour practitioners accomplish goals outdoors safely.
2 - Practice Responsibility
Take the opportunity to make positive choices that preserve the quality of parkour practices and reduces its impact to public space.
3 - Share Access with the Public
Movement for all. Equity at the center of shared spaces means watching out for others, choosing the right spaces to train, and communicating.
4 - Coordinate with Others
Strength in numbers. Working with others will build a close community full of individuals with a diversity of talent, skills, and interests.
5 - Establish Regularity
Build a consistent and regular practice that is adapted to your local training spaces and culture. Make it a custom for public spaces to expect parkour.
6 - Be Approachable
Find commonground. Opportunities grow when parkour and its practitioners are open to new ideas, exchanges, and supporters.

Healthy Parkour Community Guidelines
Planning and implementing guidelines are effective ways for our parkour communities to grow, thrive, and promote the positive attributes of our environments. Creating a community builds relationships, connects places, and organizes businesses that work for us. How can we continue to shape where we play and train? Leaders have a major role in shaping these spaces!
