About the Martin Luther King Holiday
Every year on the third Monday in January, we celebrate civil rights through the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. It is a holiday of service that inspires Americans to come together to serve their communities. He famously said, “Everyone can be great because everybody can serve.” Observing the MLK holiday through act of service is a way to begin each and every year with a commitment to making our community a better place. We invite you to make a donation towards:
- AmeriCorps – The only federal agency tasked with elevating service and volunteerism in America
- Youth Service America – An international organization engaging children and youth committed to a lifetime of leadership
- The Arc – The largest national community-based organization advocating for and with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
